Embodied in ‘Opportunist!’ from the Inversion collection is a dynamic reflection on the essence of being alive, echoing Saib Tabrizi’s assertion that our existence is not meant for rest, but rather to affirm that our comfort lies in our lack. Initially invigorating, this piece of poetry carried a sense of perpetual energy for me. However, as time unfolded, I unraveled a darker truth: the manipulation of emotional movements by some, leveraging others’ feelings for personal gain. This revelation stirred a mix of emotions within me—transforming the poem from a source of vitality into a poignant commentary. It lays bare the unsettling reality that some individuals thrive not on fostering comfort but on extracting the rest from others, akin to waves that find their lack in your serenity.
